Project economy, appropriate image, and the importance of context help to inform design decisions from concept to completion. To assure design excellence, Brooks Borg Skiles has implemented several procedures. The project team conducts design critiques with other BBSAE architects and engineers. Design forums are scheduled regularly to identify design issues and brainstorm alternate solutions. We recognize that the design of the interior environment can have a dramatic effect on the business culture, employee productivity and workplace satisfaction. We also recognize that rapid change in technology, ergonomics, and a growing environmental consciousness, add to this value and need for design excellence. Through thoughtful analysis, we attempt to improve work processes, employee interaction, workspace flexibility, and long-term space utilization while complementing the organization’s mission and brand. The result is a design solution that increases productivity, helps attract and retain employees and provides an appropriate image. Mechanical Our Mechanical Engineering staff has a wide variety of experience, ranging from single zone systems to high-rise office buildings, from simple on-off control to special space pressurization. With this broad range of experience, we can tackle projects for a wide variety of clients, integrating all the special HVAC requirements a client may have. We strive for energy efficient designs and have the long term operation of the building in mind at all times. Our engineers evaluate all new, innovative technologies as they appear on the market and assess their feasibility for new projects. We are well equipped to evaluate alternative designs of new systems and propose the most cost effective for a particular application. Energy analyses for existing buildings can be a very effective way to help an owner reduce the annual costs of operation. Electrical BBSAE electrical engineers design systems ranging from campus-wide 15,000 Volt power distribution networks to low voltage fire, security and telecom systems. Each engineer has a wide range of experiences and specialties to contribute. Electrical Engineering design practices have advanced dramatically in recent years. From the relentless advances of technology requiring high-speed data communications, to improvements in safety and security, many important design decisions rely on input from BBSAE’s electrical engineers. We use software made industry standard by utility companies to calculate all aspects of power systems to ensure properly sized and coordinated equipment is specified. This software also performs arc flash calculations required by NFPA 70E – Standards for Electrical Safety in the Workplace; a key element in reducing dangerous worker-related electrical accidents. Our electrical engineers and registered communications distribution designer (RCDD) work closely with other disciplines to ensure adequate space is programmed and appropriate systems are integrated into intelligent buildings. We leverage technology to provide flexible solutions for today’s demanding requirements. Lighting Our lighting designers use state of the art modeling software to calculate and render lighting options to exacting standards. Creativity and technical competence combine to provide energy efficient and aesthetically pleasing solutions for all situations.
